Susan Thompson, OTR has been an occupational therapist for over 21 years. She has practiced in a wide range of settings from school systems to outpatient neurological clinics. She is the creator and author of the Handy Learning Activities program for developing hand skills in young children. Her program has been embraced and utilized internationally.
In addition to her book Handy Learning; Activities for Hand Development and Curriculum Enhancement, she has published articles in the Advance Magazine for Occupational Therapy Practitioners. Several of her short stories and articles have been published in flying and professional magazines.
In the adult arena, Susan has specialized in shoulder rehabilitation and neurological disorders. She is certified in vestibular rehabilitation and in Dr. Paul Lam's Tai Chi for Health programs.
Susan is a highly skilled and experienced presenter and educator. She has presented in every major city in the U.S. Without exception, Susan receives positive reviews regarding her presenting style and her workshop content.
In addition to providing fantastic CEU courses for PTs and OTs, Susan teaches Tai Chi classes throughout the DFW community on a weekly basis for assisting others toward better health and well-being.
In her free time, Susan enjoys windsurfing, mountain biking, playing the piano, practicing Tai Chi and playing with her dogs, Maestro (standard parti-poodle), and Ollie Rocket.
An adventurer at heart, Susan is also a private pilot and once flew a Piper J3 Cub from New England to Texas, quite a feat considering the top speed of under 90 mph, no electrical system, no heater, navigational equipment or radio. It took almost a week.
