The Write Stuff™ Presenter

 

Susan Thompson, OTR, is a Licensed Occupational Therapist with over ten years in school and pediatric therapy. Prior to becoming an Occupational Therapist, Susan was a teacher in the public schools. She graduated with her Master of Occupational Therapy degree from Texas Women's University with highest honors.

Susan has worked for the Lewisville (TX) Independent School District as an Occupational Therapist and is the Fine Motor Coordinator for the District. She is the creator of the fine motor program, Handy Learning. The Handy Learning™ program has been successfully implemented in hundreds of classrooms across the country and her workshop, The Write Stuff, presents the therapeutic basis and activities for implementing this program.

She is a published author and has been published in the Advance Magazine for Occupational Therapy Practitioners. Susan is also a presenter throughout the United States and is a guest lecturer at school districts and universities.

Susan provides public and private workshops and consultations regarding effective strategies for the promotion of fine motor skills in young children. Therapists, teachers, and parents from public and private schools are welcome to contact her for further information.

 

She is also active in the promotion of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People as a trained facilitator for the Lewisville Independent School District.

An experienced private pilot, Susan once flew a Piper J3 Cub from New England to Texas, quite a feat considering the top speed of under 90 mph, no electrical system, no heater, navigational equipment or radio. It took almost a week.

Her short stories and articles have been published in flying and professional magazines.

She is an accomplished performing musician and conductor, having studied at the New England Conservatory. She currently plays in the Florida Wind Band.

In addition, she is an avid mountain biker and has recently taken up tennis.
